A glossy finish is a different surface treatment from the matte or lightly lustrous leather most jackets use, and it changes how the jacket behaves under different lighting more than any other single factor.

How a glossy finish behaves
A high-shine surface reflects light in a concentrated way rather than scattering it. In practice that means the jacket shows bright highlights along every curve and deep shadow in every fold — so the shape of the garment is far more visible than on a matte jacket.
Under artificial light and camera flash the effect is dramatic. In flat daylight it is much quieter. That is why glossy leather photographs so strongly and why it looks different in a shop than it does in a photograph.
The trade-off: gloss also shows scratches more clearly, because a scratch interrupts the reflection. It is not a finish for a jacket that will be thrown around.

Green is already an uncommon leather colour. Adding gloss makes it a genuinely distinctive jacket — which is the point, and also means it is not the jacket to buy if you want something that blends in.
