Marlboro Racing Leather Jackets
Few jackets carry the cultural weight of the Marlboro racing jacket. Born from the golden era of motorsport, Formula 1 pits, MotoGP paddocks and open road motorcycle culture, it became a symbol of speed and raw style. At Leather Outlet we make jackets in these recognisable racing styles, in real leather, for riders and for anyone who wants a piece with genuine character.
Please note: these are jackets made in the Marlboro racing style. We are not affiliated with Marlboro or Philip Morris, we are not an authorised retailer, and these are not original vintage pieces or licensed products. If you are looking for an original 1980s or 1990s jacket, you will need a specialist vintage dealer. What we offer is the same look in new leather that has decades of wear ahead of it.
Whether you want the blue and white racing jacket, the cafe racer or the biker cut, every piece is made from cowhide or sheepskin leather, built to last decades rather than seasons.
Where the Style Comes From
Through the 1980s and 1990s, motorsport was funded by sponsorship, and sponsorship meant colour. Team jackets carried the same livery as the cars and bikes: bold colour blocking, chevron detailing across the chest, and contrast sleeves. That combination is why the look is still recognisable forty years on.
Our jackets follow the same construction approach: heavyweight real leather, colour panels cut and stitched rather than printed, metal zips, and the same silhouette that made the originals recognisable.
Styles Available
- Vintage Racing Jacket: the classic colour blocked racing look
- Cafe Racer Jacket: slim cut with a band collar, the quietest option in the range
- Blue and White Racing Jacket: a less common colourway
- F1 Racing Jacket: inspired by the Formula 1 era, with team style detailing
- Black Biker Jacket: the most understated and the easiest to wear day to day
How These Jackets Fit
Most racing jackets are a bomber cut, which means roomy through the chest with the ribbed hem doing the shaping. The shoulder seam should sit on your shoulder bone and the sleeves should reach the wrist. If you are between sizes, take the larger one. Never size down, since the colour panels distort on a tight fit.
Not sure which style suits you? Our guide comparing Marlboro and cafe racer jackets covers the decision, and our Marlboro leather jacket guide explains the two main directions the style takes.
Real Leather, Made to Order
Every jacket in this collection is made from real leather. Nothing here is PU, bonded leather or a synthetic. We offer standard sizes XS to 5XL and a custom size at no extra cost, so if your measurements fall between sizes, send them to us and we will build to your numbers. Check our Size Guide before ordering.
Free Worldwide Shipping
Every order ships free worldwide with tracking included, with no minimum. Because each jacket is made after you order it rather than pulled from a warehouse, there is a production window before dispatch, and no size ever sells out.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are these original vintage Marlboro jackets?
No. These are new jackets made in the Marlboro racing style. They are not original vintage pieces and they are not licensed or official products. We are not affiliated with Marlboro or Philip Morris.
What leather is used?
Cowhide or sheepskin depending on the style. All real leather, with no PU or bonded alternatives. The hide is listed on each product page.
Are the colour panels printed or stitched?
Stitched. Each colour is a separate piece of leather sewn to the next. Printed designs crack along the creases within a season or two, which is the main thing to check when buying this style anywhere.
Can I get a custom size?
Yes, at no extra cost. Send us your chest, shoulder, sleeve, waist and body length measurements after ordering.
How long does shipping take?
Each jacket is made after you order, so there is a production window before dispatch. Get in touch if you need it by a specific date and we will tell you honestly whether it is achievable.
